Sports Medicine is the specialty for which many people seek Dr. Steve Giles’ help, from elite and Olympic athletes to normal everyday people who enjoy exercise and all its health benefits. His expertise includes managing acute and chronic diseases in athletes, diagnosing and treating ailments or injuries that result from sport, and optimizing training and nutrition. As a sports medicine physician, Dr. Giles includes exercise in the treatment of high blood pressure, high cholesterol, asthma, diabetes, arthritis and other conditions.

In Waukesha and other southeast Wisconsin communities, Dr. Giles volunteers as the sports medicine doctor for schools, teams, and clubs. He was a physician for the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia and he serves on the national sportsmedicine referral networks for US Speedskating, USA Gymnastics, and USA Swimming. He is a member of the U.S. Olympic Sports Medicine Society, and he is the race physician for The International Cycling Classic ("Superweek").

In addition to having written the "Dear Doctor" column in BICYCLE USA for many years, Dr. Giles has authored or been consulted as an expert in numerous articles and publications including Physician & Sports Medicine, MD Magazine, Physician’s Sportslife, Parenting, Forbes, USA Today, Milwaukee Journal, Waukesha Freeman, and Milwaukee Business Journal.

Dr. Giles is board certified in both Family Practice and Sports Medicine. He attended Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan and where he majored in music and today remains actively involved in performing arts and "arts medicine." He graduated from Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois and Rush Medical College in Chicago. Specialty training was completed in Waukesha in 1982 and he has practiced in the community ever since. Dr. Giles welcomes new patients in sports medicine.

Dr. Giles has been elected by his peers for inclusion in Best Doctors in America from 2003 to 2006.
